A shadow on the moon – One Journal

This photograph was taken on Sunday, when an apparent “speck” passed by the moon at a time known as transition. On YouTube you can find clues that show that this is not the first time. Speck in question is actually a spaceship that is about 100 meters long, weighing nearly 420 tons and has on board no more and no less than six crew.

This is the time the largest spacecraft: the International Space Station, or ISS in English. Despite its huge size, it goes to a speed of eight kilometers per second, allowing you to complete a full circle the Earth in just 90 minutes. As shown in the YouTube video is not quite easy to make a photograph.

According to NASA, this device functions as a laboratory of microgravity (since there is zero gravity conditions for its proximity Earth) where an international crew lives and works in his research, with a time of 35 hours, at breakneck speed.

To pause for a snack is a challenge in these circumstances . While scientists conduct physical, biological or ground investigations, eight blocks of solar panels are responsible for feeding the electronic systems: they are so large that make this the brightest object in the sky after the moon. This makes it possible sometimes even see with the naked eye, and for that NASA provides an alert service to mobile.

It is believed that advances in robotics and space technology have made it possible to be crucial for future NASA missions: especially for the purpose of sending astronauts to Mars. For now, the station has been occupied continuously since 2000, and have already gone through it 200 people from 15 countries
