Microsoft tested the Band 2: a very good wearable, but with some problems – Gizmodo in Spanish

Microsoft tested the Band 2: a very good wearable, & # xA0, but with some problems

In the new and crazy world of Microsoft, where laptops are now Surface and Lumias can be converted into a PC, the Band 2 It’s going a bit unnoticed. But to prove it closely I noticed that Microsoft has very big plans for this little wearable , the problem is that is not ready.

The best of this second generation of the Band of Microsoft is that this time they’ll want to wear it on your wrist. Now with its curved AMOLED screen it is far more comfortable than the first generation, which had a screen that was as “floating” on your wrist horribly. The new Band comes in three different sizes: small (143-170mm), medium (163-185mm) and large (180-210mm), but the latter felt too big, even for me, so I think the best options They are the first two.

Unfortunately ergonomics Band 2 remains a problem. The culprit is the fact that the screen is in landscape, so if you use your wearable like a clock you’ll constantly bending your neck and wrist in an unnatural way to see the screen (as in the image below these lines). You can use the Band 2 with the screen on the “inside” of your wrist, making it much easier to see, but this way is quite rare to have a belt clip that shows nothing on top of your wrist. While the smartwatches are evolving into something really useful and really attractive that people want to use, the Band 2 does not have these two clear trends.

However, the Band 2 is a great promise. Eleven different sensors (including the new barometer that can measure the height at which you find yourself), you can use Cortana from your wrist, you have application integration by third parties and up to 48 hours of battery autonomy, according to Microsoft. The Band 2 feels like a real product while the first generation looked like a “beta” version or still developing.

The Band 2 is finally one wearable real and attractive created by Microsoft, even if you still have some problems to solve. You can reserve one for $ 250; Microsoft says it will begin sending on October 30.

Anyway, you might want to wait before you buy, because we will not know for sure how well it works this Band 2 to give a full review in a few days.
