MEXICO CITY (CNNExpansión) – The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, announced Tuesday it will donate 99% of the shares held in the company along his life in order to “improve the world for future generations.”
The securities amount to 45,000 million dollars currently.
In a photo the young entrepreneur posted on her social network, with his wife Priscilla Chan, and his daughter Max, Zuckerberg stressed his commitment to his “small part” to help create the ideal world for children.
“We know it is a small contribution compared to all the resources and talents of those working on these issues. But we do what we can, working alongside others,” said the businessman.
Zuckerberg publication accompanied with a letter to his newborn daughter in which he said the duty of society to invest in improving the lives of those who come into the world.
“It’s a world where our generation can advance human potential and promote equality -curando diseases, personalizing learning, taking advantage of clean energy, connecting people, building stronger communities, reducing poverty, giving rights equitable and spreading understanding across nations. ”
Zuckerberg, 31, and Chan 30, met at a fraternity party while they were students at Harvard. They married nine years later, in 2012, the day after Facebook made its IPO.
The couple first announced her pregnancy last July with an unusual personal publishing on Facebook. Zuckerberg revealed that he and Chan had dealt with three miscarriages, and they expected to talk about his experience could help others going through this difficult time.
Zuckerberg again draw the attention of public opinion last November when it announced that two months would take paternity leave.
According to Reuters, the CEO of Facebook said it would sell or give away up to 1,000 million of its shares in each of the next three years and keep track of vote for the “foreseeable future” .
