Airbnb took the first step to change your identity, a business or rental homes at a travel agency full-service, introducing new services within its website and its mobile app that will provide travelers with the tools necessary to plan their vacation complete.
The updated platform, called Airbnb Trips (Travel Airbnb), helps users make reservations at restaurants, book tours and read guides created by local popular as the surfer Kelly Slater in Malibu. Customers can also purchase tickets for concerts and make preparations for their journeys, services that provide to Airbnb a percentage as commission.
The new services were announced by the CEO of Airbnb, Brian Chesky at the annual conference of startups in Los Angeles.
“The accommodations are only a part of a great journey,” said Chesky to a multitude of hosts and reporters at the Orpheum Theater. “We need to create a travel experience from a holistic focus on the whole trip”.
the change of The image occurs at a time of controversy for the startup of eight years of age, with headquarters in San Francisco, which is valued at 30,000 million dollars. Airbnb is struggling to define itself at the same time that legislators around the world complain that the company violates local laws, displaces residents and causes inflation in the rental market in the long term.
Airbnb said to be only a conduit for the content generated by users and that can’t keep an eye on them, some of them are owners not looking to rent your property long term and rent them out to tourists through Airbnb for short periods. This week, the regulators of San Francisco decided to allow the hosts of Airbnb rent out their residences for not more than 60 days per year.
The application and the internet site Airbnb updated to include tabs for experiences and places, along with the traditional option to rent. The experiences will allow users to buy unique excursions such as trips on a motorcycle through Los Angeles or a tasting of truffles near Florence. The places act as a own guide, where the hosts and local organizers will offer their suggestions on travel experiences that are often overlooked in the traditional guides.
The trips will also offer audio tours for certain local neighborhoods, provided by Detour, a startup based in San Francisco founded by Andrew Mason, the former CEO of Groupon.
The travel services will help you to Airbnb sets it apart from similar websites of competitors such as HomeAway and VRBO, the property of Expedia, Inc. and TurnKey Vacation Rentals.
The new application Airbnb will allow hosts to provide a higher quality of service to its guests, similar to a hotel concierge. It will also allow Airbnb to act as a curator of lifestyle and design content.
