A farmer and construction workers in China discovered the remains of a new species of dinosaur like a bird that apparently died after getting stuck in the mud. The finding, experts say, adds weight to the idea that these animals were thriving just before the mass extinction more than 66 million years ago, according to a report in the british newspaper The Guardian.
The evidence found makes you think the specialists that the animal was the size of a sheep, with a beak, wings, and a crest on its head. Was thinking that the flying creature was a species of Oviraptorosauria, a group of dinosaurs manirraptores feathered that lived during the Cretaceous period in what is today Asia and North America.
“If vieramos with life to one, and you would think that is a rare bird,” said Stephen Brusatte, a paleontologist of the University of Edinburgh, who, with his colleagues in China, is co-author of the research published in the journal Scientific Reports.
with the evidence found, the experts believe that the dinosaur suffered a premature death.”It appeared that he became trapped in the mud, and that’s why he died,” explained Brusatte. “The neck was arched, the head is raised as if he were sacandola over something, and both arms are outstretched as if trying to be free.”
The dinosaur was named Tongtianlong limosus (dragon muddy on the way to heaven). The fossil remains were discovered at the construction site of a high school near Ganxian, in the province of Jiangxi, in the south of China.
it Is believed that this species lived about 72 million, in addition to this discovery adds weight to the argument that instead of that the dinosaurs were in decline before mass extinction, could have been flourishing.
