The data protection authorities of Belgium, Spain, France, Hamburg and the Netherlands have urged Facebook to cease immediately the navigation data collection of Internet non-users of its network through cookies.
In a joint statement, published by the Spanish Agency Data Protection, these five authorities require Facebook comply with the ruling of the court of first instance in Brussels on 9 November, ordering it to stop collecting data of Internet users who are not enrolled in the social network, but visiting their pages.
The court urged Facebook to stop “secret deal” these data for tracking and use of cookies (programs that record surfing the Internet) without the consent of users.
In early 2015, due to the changes introduced by Facebook in their conditions of use, various data protection authorities of the European Union among them the Spanish- began their investigation procedures, coordinating their performances through a Contact Group.
The group has urged Facebook “to comply with this judgment immediately because the measures taken for this not detract from the Internet”.
Meanwhile, the Spanish Data Protection Agency, as all authorities group, continues his own research.
On April 10 the company run by Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged have tracked by mistake surfers outside the network, due to a “failure” that caused the site of “cookies” on websites
