Huawei Mate 9: double camera and design next to Porsche for its new smartphone of large – LA NACION (Argentina)

the standard version of The Mate 9 has a Full HD screen of 5.9 inches and 4 GB of RAM.

Huawei today unveiled its new smartphone star, the Matt 9, in two versions: the normal one, and another with an aesthetic defined by Porsche Design, the arm design of the German automotive (and already collaborated with BlackBerry on the design of a couple of smartphones).

In both cases, it uses a system of double main camera, similar to the Huawei P9: Mate 9 has a sensor black-and-white 12 megapixel camera, and other color, 20 megapixel camera, as in the P9, it combines the information of both cameras to provide a single image that -according to the company – offers a better control of glare and greater tonal richness. It is, also, a different schema than the Apple, LG, HTC, and other manufacturers, but one that will be popular in the near future: it is the same combination of dual-lens that gives support Qualcomm, one of the largest manufacturers of processors for mobile devices, so you’ll surely be present in multiple models of phones next year.

the Huawei Mate 9, the lenses are branded Leica (as in P9), both with aperture f/2.2 (other models of Apple, Samsung and LG, they manage to openings larger to let in more light to the sensor); sensor color has optical image stabilisation, six-axis (to neutralize the most of the tremor natural in the hand, especially in situations with low light and longer exposure) and a system approach that combines the laser, the detection of phases (PDAF), depth and contrast. Also record video in 4K. The front camera is 8 megapixels, with aperture f/1.9.

As was to be expected, the company highlighted the possibility of combining the two cameras in the rear to make background blur with respect to the item pictured in the front (which Apple is promoting for the iPhone 7 Plus), and something called Zoom Hybrid, which gave no further details, but that seems to be an increase by software and not by the optics of the camera.

6 GB of RAM and more

Both models also use a processor HiSilicon Kirin 960 manufactured by the own Huawei, like Apple and Samsung (and to a lesser extent, LG and Xiaomi) are creating their own chips from the designs of the English ARM. In a configuration very common today, it has eight cores, four Cortex-A73 at 2.4 GHz (for demanding tasks) and other four A53 at 1.8 GHz (with lower battery consumption for tasks more mundane); the company says that it is superior to the chip Exynos 8890 carrying the Galaxy S7 (faster, and with less impact on the battery, according to Huawei).

comes with 4 GB of RAM and a Full HD screen 5.9 inches (IPS) in the standard version, and 6 GB of RAM along with a panel AMOLED of 5.5 inches and QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) in the designed by Porsche. It has 64 GB of RAM in the base version, and reaches up to 256 GB in the version of the Porsche. It also has a microSD slot.

The appearance of the version Porsche will be known: it has the same design with sides that curve back like offers Samsung in the S7 (and BlackBerry in the Priv); the resemblance to the Note 7 of Samsung is given also by a button biometric front. The Huawei Mate 9 “normal”, in contrast, locates the biometric sensor coupled to the cameras, in the back of the phone.

The Mate 9 (in two versions) also adds analog audio, LTE, Wifi. GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, an infrared port and a USB connector,-C (reversible) with fast charging, which takes the battery to 60% with a half-hour load (but “safe”, as stated in the presentation, taking advantage of the debacle of the Galaxy Note 7) to its battery of 4000 mAh.

the housing of The phone is metallic, it has 7.9 mm thick, runs Android 7 with the modifications to functional and aesthetic of Huawei (EMUI 5.0); in theory learns from the user and gives priority to the performance of the applications you use most often. In addition to will allow you to use two accounts of Whatsapp and Facebook simultaneously on a same computer, to see two apps on the screen, and have a simplified interaction: the company ensures that most of the applications and functions are three touches away as the maximum.
