Hugo Barra leaves Xiaomi to return to Silicon Valley – CNET in Spanish

Hugo Barra leaves Xiaomi after three and a half years of work in the company to china, where the brazilian was in charge of the face more global company.

The vice president of international of Xiaomi, Hugo Barra says goodbye to the company, after three and a half years in charge of projecting the image of the company outside of China.

In a statement through his account on Facebook, Barra said he will leave his post in February after the chinese New Year, with the goal of returning to Silicon Valley.

Prior to working at Xiaomi, Barra was an executive of Android at Google and was the visible face of this division for several years. When he joined the chinese company, said that its aim was “to convert a startup young man in a global competitor”.

“what I’ve noticed is that in the last few years living in an environment so unique, have taken a toll and this has started to affect my health,” wrote Bar on its entry of Facebook. “My friends, that I consider my home and my life are in Silicon Valley, which is also much closer to my family. To see how much I have left behind these last few years it is clear that it is time to return.”

Bin Lin, co-founder and president of Xiaomi, responded to the entry of Bar in Facebook, thanking you for your service and announcing that his position will be covered by Xiang Wang, current senior vice president.

Bar does not go away completely from Xiaomi, due to which, according to Lin will continue to work closely with him as an advisor of the company. “We have ambitious expansion plans for 2017 and we are confident that the leadership of Xiang take our global business to even higher heights,” he said.

On his future in Silicon Valley, Bar, of brazilian origin, only said that it would take a time of rest before you begin with any new adventure.

The last work of Hugo Barra was to bring to Xiaomi at CES in Las Vegas, where although you have not presented a product to US had the presence for the first time. The Xiaomi Mi Mix, white in color, was one of the devices that most caught the attention in the fair.
