Soon you will begin to see advertising very close to your chats. Facebook has announced that Messenger has started the testing phase of the ads within the application, a new feature for advertisers that currently is available only in Australia and Thailand.

The company emphasized that the ads will not be within the conversations. “No one will see advertising on a conversation without having clicked on an ad on the home screen of the Messenger, or without to start a conversation with a brand,” explained the company.

The ads will be on the home screen of Facebook Messenger, just below the area that shows the recent contacts, or more frequent. The users have the ability to hide or report specific ads in the bottom menu of the app, explained the company on its blog.

According to Facebook, businesses have observed as positive this new step in the ads. The company has not explained whether their technology will allow the advertisements related to key words found in the chats, something that Google does with the Gmail e-mail for example, that through a series of codes to try to determine the topic of conversation a e-mail to suggest advertising according to that topic.

The social network said that once the test in these countries, shall take the decision to expand the experience to the rest of the world.

This week Facebook has taken several important decisions. On the one hand, it decided to change the section of “Trending Topics” facing an avalanche of criticism, and at the same time, has unveiled its recruitment star of this season: Hugo Barra, who will soon Xiaomi, is integrated in the computer virtual reality of the company.
