Access to some services of Apple Inc. App Store and iTunes Store, Mac App Store and iBooks Store, on Wednesday fell and remained offline after more than eight hours.
Apple said the cause of the failure was an internal error in the Domain Name System (DNS, for its acronym in English), according to CNBC.
“We are working so that all services are available to customers as quickly as possible and thank them for their patience,” said the company, according to CNBC.
Many users expressed frustration with labels like Twitter #itunesdown and #appstoresdown.
“Customers might not be able to shop App Store, iTunes Store, iBooks Store or Mac App Store,” the company said on its website.
A similar failure occurred in early September, according appleinsider.com.
Apple said Wednesday that iCloud iCloud Mail and Account & amp; Sign In also affected until about 1300 GMT.
The other services were inaccessible at around 1200 GMT, as could be seen on the Apple website. More than eight hours later still offline.
Apple Store was briefly closed on Monday, before the long anticipated launch of Apple Watch.
The firm did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the causes of the fall.
“The service failures occur from time to time and consider it as a minor event,” said Daniel Ives, an analyst at FBR Capital Markets, told Reuters.
Apple shares were down less than 1 percent to $ 123.60 in midday trading.
