NEW YORK (AFP) – Facebook discussed with several media companies to try to convince them to publish their content directly to your network instead of forwarding links to their own sites, wrote Tuesday The New York Times.
The trials could begin in the coming months, says the paper, part of the first partners with BuzzFeed and National Geographic.
A BuzzFeed spokesman declined to comment. They contacted by AFP, companies Facebook, The New York Times and National Geographic did not respond, although the US newspaper reported that even with the social network analyzes how this idea can financially benefit both parties.
The social network has 1,390 million users and is a regular source of information for the 88% of Americans between 18 and 34 years, according to results of a poll conducted earlier this year by the American Press Institute and Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
For now, Facebook only publishes links forwarded to media sites.
