Seven malpractices to try to cheat on the Internet – PanamaOn

To avoid becoming a victim of online cheating, Kaspersky Lab recommends that you always have in mind that there are people trying to take advantage of you. They will try to remove your personal data (legally through a social network or any other malicious resource) or you will download malware or attempt to access your digital wallet or bank account.

To help detect these situations, Kaspersky Lab has developed a list of the seven worst and most common practices which protect yourself on the Internet:

Where is the x to close the window pop- up of this site? Independent audience who are looking to attract or increase profits, many websites opt for annoying practices among which are the pop-ups. They are a nuisance by default, but significantly worse when they are accompanied by false buttons to close. These windows simply are not removed until you take an action, such as giving your email or refer you to a page full of ads.

Another bad option used is to make the button “close” a hyperlink not so clearly, that says something like “I like your amazing page”. Inexperienced users could click “like” and “share” the page just to get rid of pop-up, but all they get is to receive additional spam.

Beware of pages that use such tactics. Chances are that if they are so aggressive to collect your data, do not show any respect once they get them. Do not click the buttons “like” and “share” just to close the pop-up. It is better to seek the true button to close it. If this page do not get well, why give your personal data?

Full download at full speed! Some pages of images and trackers torrent placed the download button at the bottom, but also full of big download buttons to draw the attention of users without taking them to the download waiting.

Unfortunately, in this case, users can download and install anything else, such as applications created by the advertising partner of the website (what is known as adware).

If you do not want to find yourself in the position of having to clean up your system a lot of unnecessary applications, you should carefully review every file you download. Or you can install Kaspersky Internet Security, which protects you from problems like this.

Attention! Your PC is infected! Fake pop-ups are even more dangerous. Mimic your system notifications, messages dating sites and social networks, or warnings “has detected a virus.” In the best case, these notices will be redirected to advertising pages where you can download a useless “antivirus” or log on to a page of undesirable events.

In the worst cases, ciberestafadores could spy on your browser sessions and see, for example, your online banking sessions. It is then skips a pop-up window that mimics your bank notifications. Deceived users could log into your “bank account”, sharing their credentials with criminals. You can get rid of any banner with the help of a special browser extension, such as AdBlock. Users of Kaspersky Internet Security can also activate the Anti-Banner.

Download free software without having to register! When looking for a software on the network, you can easily find several websites that offer download “useful” software as drivers, system patches and updates for the wonderful price of … zero euros; but actually only they spread malware. It is an old strategy, but efficient. If you do not want to cheat, you should only download software from official websites or third party websites that are reputable. If you want to get the software, do it well.

Can you give me your passport, please? The ciberestafadores act boldly in online shopping and platforms like eBay auctions. In particular, they can steal money regardless of who you are: a seller or a buyer

That’s why we must be very careful when the other side asks you to do something.. If this person wants a secret code by SMS “to check something,” your code CVV2 or any other strange thing, do not share it.

A million a week! Many people want easy money, but you should stay calm if you do not want to become another victim of the financial pyramid, or a HYIP (in Spanish, investment program high yield). You can be sure: most investment programs unnamed working online (and offline), disappear long before you can get your money

“extras” functions.! There are bad tricks to fool users torrent trackers and websites with pirated games. Imagine. You’re trying to download a book or a film of a page of unknown torrent

There are many web pages that mimic trackers torrent, but instead of pirated files, spread keyloggers, Trojans and ransomware, basically everything malware. In terms of cybersecurity, it is very bad to download unknown pages. If you risk, checks the file extensions. If you see .exe instead of .doc, .rtf, or .torrent, you are cheating. In fact, you need to check with a virus all downloaded files from unreliable sources.

In conclusion, all pages trying to improve its interface making it easier for the user. If you see that a site has many ads or spam that demand your personal data, do not use it. Protect yourself, install a good antivirus like Kaspersky Internet Securtiy, award-winning security solution that will protect you from all kinds of threats on the Internet.
